DIY Wall Art & Installations.

There is nothing I like less than PRINTS. You know what I'm talking about... Poster size images that have been printed and printed and reprinted to replicate famous works of art, photos, movie posters etc. You can buy them just about anywhere. The only time buying a print is acceptable is if it is of extremely good quality in which case a print of a famous piece of art can run you into the several hundreds of dollars. I understand that not all of us are creative and artistic souls who can make our own art and that not everyone has the $$$$$ to buy expensive original works of art but here are some fun and easy solutions to dressing up your walls sans PRINTS.

Get the whole family involved in making this stunning piece of art. Simply start out with a piece of MDF in the size of your choice preferably 1/2" thick. Paint the background the color of your choice and start nailing small nails into it in the pattern that you want to create. Wrap with embroidery thread and you have yourself a funky piece of wall art!

Use 1/2" and 3/4" thick pieces of MDF to create this beautiful wall sculpture. It will add modern appeal to any space! HINT: you can also use a couple of thicker pieces placed randomly to create small ledges along the wall to house your collection. Just be careful, too much stuff will look cluttered and messy!

This piece was made using shoe polish but acrylic paint will give you the same affect on canvas. Purchase pre-stretched canvas at your local arts and crafts supply store. Acrylic paint comes in dozens of colors so get creative!

Wall Decals

Wall decals are all the rage right now. Adding personalized style to any room without the hassle and expense of hiring a professional artist to come to your home and create a mural that you will inevitably feel guilty for painting over in 5 years when you get tired of it. Wall decals come in every size, shape and color you can imagine. They are easy to use and in expensive. The best part is that they peel right off when it's time to move! I'm sure we have all seen decals being put to use in baby's and children's rooms but here is an example of how you can use them in a grown up space too. Etsy.com is a great place to search for and purchase decals that are hand made by artists around the country!
